City of Albion City Council met January 22

City of Albion City Council met Jan. 22.

Here is the agenda provided by the council:

The Albion City Council met in regular session on Jan 22, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. in the Albion City Hall. Mayor John Henze called the meeting to order and led Pledge of Allegiance.

Roll Call: Present- Pat Hemming, Eric Eirikson, Eric Schmidt, Kim Dostal, Jordan Hinkle.

Hemming moved to approve the agenda and Eirikson seconded it. Motion passed 5-0

Schmidt moved to approve the consent agenda and was seconded by Dostal. The consent agenda consisted of regular minutes from Dec 17, 2018 minutes, and Jan 2 & 15, 2019 spec meeting minutes, and approval claims for payment, and financial reports. Motion passed 5-0.

Deputy Hunter gave the sheriff’s report.

Rick Matney – Insurance agent stated the City’s renewal is coming up April 1st, 2019, dividend check is on its way, and he sent IRUA contract to be reviewed from an insurance stand point.

Public Safety, Fire, EMS, Water/WW, P&R, and Streets had nothing to report.

Hemming, Water Committee Chairman stated that he is waiting on reports back from V&K on deep wells and green sand filters.

Library Director was unable to attend. Clerk Wallen gave the Library report stating: Beginning Jan 30, 2019 the Library will hold an area Potluck every last Wednesday of the month. Promoting Unity in the Community.

City Maintenance – the council agreed to send Russell Keefer to CDL class in Des Moines. The road grader needs breaks.

Schmidt motioned and Hemming seconded the resignation of Evan McRill, Fire Chief effective 12/31/18. Motion passed 5-0

Dostal motioned and Hinkle seconded the scope of engagement from Ahlers Cooney with Maria Brownell as main contact for City attorney. Motion passed 5-0.

An invitation was given to the council to attend Region 6 Clerks meeting regarding nuisances. A reminder the next budget workshop will be held TUE Feb 5, 2019

No public comments.

Eirikson motioned and Schmidt seconded for adjournment. Meeting adjourned 6:58pm. Motion passed 5-0
