Restland Cemetery District recently issued the following announcement.
Restland’s 80th Annual Memorial Day event will experience some changes this year due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. As news of our nation’s gradual reopening we are cautiously excited to return to our new normal but there is a natural cautiousness and responsibilities that we have all adopted during this challenging time. This year we will raise the flags of the families who donated their flags for 2020 in a VIRTUAL ceremony on Facebook, with NO GUESTS in attendance on Friday May 22nd, 2020 at 2:00 PM. Those flags, along with the flags donated from the previous years, will fly through Memorial Day, Monday May 25, 2020 at 5:00 PM. The Memorial Park and Mausoleums will be open all weekend long. Free flags will be available at our main entrance inside the funeral home. Stop by and pick one up and place it on your loved one’s grave.
Monday, May 25 from 10 AM to 4 PM, Restland will have a smaller ceremony honoring our beloved veterans with an Honor Wall. Guests will be able to bring a photo of their loved ones and pin it to our Wall of Honor, while using proper social distancing for those in attendance. Social Distancing guidelines will be available at our resource table, which will be located next to the Wall of Honor outside of the funeral home, next to the pre-arrangement building.
