Jasper Community Consolidated School District #17 Board of Education met April 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The regular meeting of the Jasper School Board of Education was called to order by Board President Derek Demaret and Jon Lafikes taking the minutes, on April 20 2023, at 6:00 p.m. with following board members present:

Board Members Present: Derek Demaret, Beth Titzer (arrived 6:18 and left at 6:22), Lance Hinkle, Andrew Weaver, Jon Lafikes, Josh Zurliene & Caitlin Glisson

Board Members Absent:

The consent agenda, which includes minutes of previous regular board meeting, executive session and destruction of closed session minutes, treasurer’s report, approval of monthly bills and payroll were then approved on a motion by Josh Zurliene and seconded by Caitlin Glisson.

A motion as made by Andrew Weaver and seconded by Lance Hinkle to adjourn sine die. The votes were as follows:

The April 2023 consolidated election was recognized and the oath of office for the new board members began at 6:18 p.m.

Superintendent Shari Berger read the oath of office and the newly formed board repeated it after her.

A motion was made by Beth Titzer and seconded by Josh Zurliene to appoint Derek Demaret as President Pro-Tempore for the reorganizational portion of the April

A motion was made by Josh Zurliene and seconded by Jon Lafikes to appoint Beth Titzer as Secretary Pro-Tempore for the reorganizational portion of the April Board Meeting.

Derek Demaret was elected to serve as the Jasper Grade School Board of Education President to serve a two-year term. The votes were as follows:

Jon Lafikes was elected to serve as the Jasper Grade School Board of Education Vice-President to serve a two- year term. The votes were as follows:

Beth Titzer was elected to serve as the Jasper Grade School Board of Education secretary to serve a two-year term. The votes were as follows:

The Board President appointed these board members to the following committees to serve a twoyear term:

Building and Grounds Committee: Josh Zurliene and Josh Atwood

Parent/Advisory Committee: Beth Titzer and Caitlin Glisson

WOVSED Delegate: Jon Lafikes

A motion was made by Caitlin Glisson and seconded by Josh Zurliene to authorize Shari Berger, Superintendent, to begin preparing the FY24 budget. The votes were as follows:

A motion was made by Jon Lafikes and seconded by Justin Atwood to post custodial position for summer 2023. The votes were as follows:
