New Hope Consolidated Community School District #6 Board of Education met Jan. 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The New Hope Board of Education met on January 16, 2024 at 7:30 P.M. in the work room of the school.

Vice-President Jason Simpson called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.

Roll Call: Present: Jason Simpson

Dan Devous

Brandon Fry

Ryan Green

Tom Barton

Jeremy Gray

Absent: Jeremy Vaughan

Also Present: Julie Harrelson, Superintendent

Melanie Hill Britany Pope

Amy Fleener

Dan Devous made a motion to approve the December 19, 2023 regular meeting minutes with no corrections noted. Second by Brandon Fry.

Voice Vote: Yea: Jason Simpson, Dan Devous, Brandon Fry, Tom Barton, Ryan Green, Jeremy Gray

Nay: None          Carried

Superintendent Julie Harrelson presented the Treasurer’s Report and current financial information. Bank balances as of December 31, 2023:

Fairfield National Bank Checking: $1,412,180.10

IPTIP: $1,013.75

Fairfield National Bank Money Market: $475,339.78

Fairfield National Bank CD: $500,000.00

Jeremy Gray made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report. Second by Ryan Green.

Voice Vote: Yea: Ryan Green, Jeremy Gray, Jason Simpson, Dan Devous, Brandon Fry, Tom Barton

Nay: None          Carried

Ryan Green made a motion to pay the bills with no additions or exclusions noted. Second by Brandon Fry.

Voice Vote: Yea: Jeremy Gray, Jason Simpson, Dan Devous, Brandon Fry, Tom Barton, Ryan Green

Nay: None          Carried

Mrs. Harrelson presented the Superintendent’s Report. FOIA request for documents supporting outstanding student lunch accounts past and current. Application for kitchen equipment grant, new dishwasher, has been submitted but have not heard if it was approved. Expenditure and revenue reports for quarter 2 discussion. Kerry has contacted a company regarding no parking stripes at the school entrance. The company will not stripe during the winter. Kerry has purchased some paint and may do it on his own. Spelling bee winners are Kamden Vaughan and Brylee Bradham. Kinley Pope was the winner of the lower grade bee. Kamden and Brylee will advance to the county spelling bee. Our plan for e-learning days has expired. After a brief discussion, all agreed to not update the plan but use old fashion snow days. Girls basketball team has won their regional and will play Saturday at state at 5:00 P.M. Jeremy Vaughan arrived at 7:46 P.M.

Old Business:

1. Ryan Green made a motion to accept MaKenna Kelly’s resignation. Second by Tom Barton.

Voice Vote: Yea: Jason Simpson, Dan Devous, Brandon Fry, Tom Barton, Ryan Green, Jeremy Gray, Jeremy Vaughan

Nay: None          Carried

New Business:

1. Tom Barton made a motion to set graduation date of May 10th at 6:00 P.M. Second by Jeremy Gray.

Voice Vote: Yea: Dan Devous, Brandon Fry, Tom Barton, Ryan Green, Jeremy Gray, Jeremy Vaughan, Jason Simpson

Nay: None          Carried

2. Dan Devous made a motion to reinvest certificate of deposit at FNB for 12 months, $520,000.00. Second by Brandon Fry.

Voice Vote: Yea: Brandon Fry, Tom Barton, Ryan Green, Jeremy Gray, Jeremy Vaughan, Jason Simpson, Dan Devous

Nay: None          Carried

3. Dan Devous made a motion to approve 2024-2025 school calendar as presented. Second by Ryan Green.

Voice Vote: Yea: Tom Barton, Ryan Green, Jeremy Gray, Jeremy Vaughan, Jason Simpson, Dan Devous, Brandon Fry

Nay: None          Carried

Dan Devous made a motion to enter executive session at 8:03 P.M. for personnel hiring, appointment, firing, and superintendent evaluation.

Voice Vote: Yea: Ryan Green, Jeremy Gray, Jeremy Vaughan, Jason Simpson, Dan Devous, Brandon Fry, Tom Barton

Nay: None          Carried

Jeremy Vaughan left the meeting at 8:03 P.M.

Dan Devous made a motion to return to open session at 8:14 P.M. Second by Brandon Fry.

Voice Vote: Yea: Jeremy Gray, Jason Simpson, Dan Devous, Brandon Fry, Tom Barton, Ryan Green

Nay: None          Carried

Dan Devous made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:21 P.M. Second by Jeremy Gray.
