City of Harrisburg City Council met Dec. 4.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Public Hearing Minutes

The Harrisburg City Council met on December 04, 2025 at 7:45 a.m. at the City Hall located at 110 E. Locust Street, Harrisburg, IL.

Mayor John McPeek called the meeting to order.  Mayor John McPeek presided over the meeting with Commissioners Roger Angelly, Rupert Johnson and Jonathan Brown answering roll call.  Commissioner Raymond Gunning was absent.

This meeting is being held to hear citizens’ concerns, comments, or questions regarding the Energy Transition Grant.

The city has $133,000 grant funds that must be spent on economic development. The council likes the idea of a splash pad at the amphitheater. The amount of the grant decreases each year because more communities are applying for the grant. This grant cannot go toward maintenance and none of it can be used for salaried.

Commissioner Roger Angelly thinks the city needs a grant writer to find grants for the city.

Mayor John McPeek made the motion to adjourn.  Seconded by Commissioner Roger Angelly.  A roll call vote was taken with all present voting yes.  Motion carried.

 Adjourn: 7:52 a.m.
