FOIA Request to City of Albion regarding procurement bids and RFP submissions on February 1, 2026.

The SE Illinois News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Albion. The request seeks records related to procurement bids and responses to requests for proposals (RFPs) received by the city during the immediately preceding calendar month. This request was made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, and asks for information in electronic format if available.

The requested records include details such as solicitation or project titles, names of bidders or proposers, submission dates, bid amounts or proposed costs, and descriptions of the goods or services proposed. The purpose of this request is to gather information that is in the public interest for dissemination through news coverage. It emphasizes that the request pertains only to existing records and does not require the creation of new documents.

In case any part of this request is denied or withheld, SE Illinois News has asked for a specific statutory basis for such denial and requests that all reasonably segregable portions of the records be released. As a media organization involved in reporting news to the public, SE Illinois News has also requested a fee waiver based on their role in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency.
