State Representative Patrick Windhorst has been recognized as a Prairie State Policy Champion by Americans for Prosperity Illinois (AFP-IL). The award was presented to Windhorst by Grace Lattz, AFP’s director of field engagement, at his West Frankfort office on December 8.
Jason Heffley, Director of AFP-Illinois, commented on Windhorst’s leadership: “Illinois needs more principled leaders like Rep. Windhorst in Springfield fighting for Illinois taxpayers and reining in out-of-control government spending. Rep. Windhorst has consistently prioritized fiscal responsibility over special interests, while also leading on AFP-supported legislation in the Capitol. Rep. Windhorst is a conservative, commonsense leader, and AFP-Illinois will help educate constituents on his dedication and service to the Land of Lincoln.”
Windhorst expressed gratitude for the recognition: “Americans for Prosperity has chapters all over the United States, and they are working hard to educate and raise awareness on matters of public policy while engaging directly with voters,” he said. “My work in Springfield focuses on reducing burdensome regulations and high taxes and protecting families from outsized and overreaching government. I want to thank AFP-Illinois not only for this award and designation, but for their outstanding work protecting taxpayers and advocating for small government solutions.”
Windhorst is a Republican who was elected to the Illinois State House in 2023 to represent the state’s 117th House District, succeeding Natalie Phelps Finnie.
