Marion City Council announce new patrolman

The Marion City Council met Monday, June 13.

The Marion City Council includes elect four commissioners and a mayor who are responsible for city management and general functions.

Old BUSINESS:

Approve of request for a setback variance at 801 Cedar Lane – Ten foot (10) side setback variance on East Lincoln Street. (Owner – Ed Clanahan.)

NEW BUSINESS:

Discuss/approve bids for two new trucks Sewer Department. (Budgeted)

Approve annual cell service for 17 Lift stations at $360.00 each = $6,120.00 to Raco Manufacturing & Engineering Co. Sewer Department.

Approve bids for the Secondary Pump Station improvements that have been budgeted for. Sewer Department.

Announce Police and Fire Merit Board selection of new Police Patrolman Brett Brachear, who will commence work June 18th.

Approve quote from Paving Maintenance Supply for sealant for streets 45,000 lbs. at $.43 a lb. = $19,350.00. Street Department.

Approve bids for Street resurfacing with hot mix asphalt.

Approve bids for re-sealing streets with cape seal and micro seal. Ordinance 3331 – Ordinance determining the Prevailing Rate of Wages as defined in said act as amended, 820 ILCS 130/1 et seq. (1993) for laborers, mechanics and other workers employed in performing construction of public works for the City of Marion.

Council approval of Hub Recreation Center drainage and flagpole project:

Approve bid for drainage and concrete work )bids attached) $11,500.00

Purchase flag poles from Majestic: $ 1,400.00

Lighting and electrical work, Brown Electric $ 3,400.00

Purchase of benches and bike racks $ 3,500.00

Approval of Hub Recreation Center exhaust air improvements.

Approve wage increase for Boyton Street CACFP program head cook and corrected Budget.

Ordinance 3334 – An Ordinance approving and authorizing the execution of a tax increment financing (TIF) District Redevelopment agreement by and between the City of Marion, Illinois and CF & Company.
