Two members of the Southern Illinois baseball team have been selected to play in the 2016 Northwoods League (NWL) Major League Dreams Showcase, the school's website reported.
Nick Hutchins and Connor Kopach were picked for the game, a doubleheader that starts at 4:05 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, in Madison, Wisconsin. Hutchins and Kopach are scheduled to play in the second game.
Before the games, the players will do workouts for Major League Baseball scouts.
Through 51 games, Kopach, an infielder for the Kalamazoo (Michigan) Growlers, was hitting .308 with five home runs and 21 RBIs and leads the league with 35 steals, according to the league's website.
Hutchins, a catcher for Kalamazoo, had a .331 batting average, six home runs and 34 RBIs through 46 games.
The NWL is a developmental league for college-baseball players, according to the league's website.
