AGENDA - AUGUST 22, 2016 - 6:30 P.M.

1.0 Call to Order and Roll Call

2.0 Executive Session - review of July 25 and August 2 executive session minutes, consider new employment, retirement, resignations, transfers, review of litigation from a staff member.

The regular meeting will begin at Approximately 7:30 p.m.

NOTE: Occasionally matters can keep the Board in closed session for an extended period of time. The open session can sometimes start later than 7:30, but will never begin earlier.

3.0 Recognition and Comments from Employees and Public

MES Construction update, update on Primary School damage from tornado, Carbon Monoxide Detection (105 ILCS 5/10-20.56, 41 Ill. Adm. Code 111.230)

All schools must have carbon monoxide detection located within 20 feet of a carbon monoxide emitting device. Schools designed before January 1, 2016 may use carbon monoxide alarms powered by batteries. For public schools designed on or after January 1, 2016, any carbon monoxide alarm installed must be monitored by any required fire alarm system and must be permanently powered by the building’s electrical system. Alarms or detectors must be in operating condition and be inspected annually.

The Youth Sports Concussion Safety Act (SB 07) requires school districts to form Concussion Oversight Teams that monitor the education of coaches, parents and student-athletes about the nature and risk of concussions and continued play after a head injury. The Concussion Oversight Team will adopt protocols for Return to Play and Return to Learn for students after concussions. The team will consist of a physician, trainer, school nurse, athletic director, assistant principal, and guidance counselor.

WE ARE PLEASED TO PROVIDE THIS HIGH SCHOOL INTERSCHOLASTIC EVENT FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT. KEEP IN MIND IT IS PART OF THE EDUCATION MISSION OF THE UNIT 1 SCHOOLS. EVERYONE IS REQUIRED TO EXHIBIT RESPECT AND COURTESY TOWARDS ALL PARTICIPANTS IN THIS ATHLETIC EVENT INCLUDING PLAYERS, COACHES, OPPOSING FANS, AND OFFICIALS. ABUSIVE LANGUAGE, TAUNTING, OR OBSCENE GESTURES ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE, AND WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE REMOVAL FROM THE CONTEST.
