Preview: Columbia continues boys soccer success

Soccer

Columbia High School's boys' soccer team got off to another strong start to the season this year by jumping out to a 3-0 record going into Sept. 6's action.

Record-wise, that is an extension of last year's 22-2-1 record, which included a regional title and a berth in the sectional semifinals, ihsa.org reported. But the Eagles lost 14 seniors to graduation from that squad, Head Coach Jason Mathenia said.

This year's captains are junior goalkeeper Jon Kuebler, senior back David Hawickhorst, junior midfielder Sam Spivey and senior back Cole Bivens.

Other team members are Luke Volmert, Ryan Lammert, Riley Hubler, Connor Jackson, Noah Jorns, Charlie Harres, Liam McGonigle, David Olsson, Connor Pelt, Tyler Hoguet, Tyler Henson, Darian Davison, Brennan van Bruesegan, Zach Schult, Alec Tharp and Jake Bridges.

Note: Not all teams' information was available for this preview and update as the story went to press this.
