Southern Illinois' Kelsie Walker and Rachel Williams were named the Missouri Valley Conference's (MVC) swimmer and diver of the week in the first awards of the season, according to siusalukis.com.
Walker, a junior from Carbondale, had two first-place finishes and a second-place showing in SIU's relay dual at Evansville, which was held Sept. 30-Oct. 1. Walker's first-place finishes came as part of the 400-yard freestyle relay and 500-yard relay, with her second-place honor coming with the 200-yard freestyle.
Williams, a junior from Bloomington, Illinois, was second in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, with a score of 243.07 in the 1-meter and 262.05 in the 3-meter. Williiams' 3-meter score was four points off first place, while her 1-meter score was three points off her personal best from last season.
The Saluki women beat the Purple Aces 188-142 over the two-day event.
