Volleyballer Andrea Estrada recently joined an exclusive club when the Southern Illinois outside hitter recorded her 1,000th career kill, according to a report on siusalukis.com.
Estrada is one of 14 players in program history to reach that milestone. She reached it with 17 kills in SIU's 3-1 win over Drake recently in Des Moines, Iowa. Estrada entered the match with 989 career kills.
Her 1,006 career kills after that match put her five behind Laura Pier for 13th place. After that is Nina Brackins, who had 1,098 kills for 12th place.
In the match against Drake, Estrada also had 16 digs for her 39th career double-double, which was tied with Dana Olden for fifth-most in program history.
Estrada entered this season ranked in the top 10 in career kills per set (sixth, 3.20) and career attempts per set (fifth, 8.75).
A native of Bogota, Colombia, Estrada was an All-Missouri Valley Conference first-team selection in 2015 and was a preseason All-MVC pick this year.
