Former Southern Illinois men's basketball star Anthony Beane was picked by the Oklahoma City Blue in the 2016 NBA Development League Draft on Sunday, according to siusalukis.com.
Beane was taken in the second round and 26th overall by Oklahoma City, which is an affiliate of the NBA's Oklahoma City Thunder.
Beane, who wrapped up his SIU career earlier this year, is third all-time in the program in points scored, with 1,917, and is one of 10 players in Missouri Valley Conference history to score at least 1,000 points. He was named to the MVC All-Freshman Team in 2013, was picked for the All-MVC Second Team in 2014 and 2015, and was on the All-MVC First Team in 2016. He also was a National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District selection in 2015 and 2016.
About 30 percent of the players on NBA rosters at the start of this season had played previously in the NBADL.
