Dads tired of being teased -- no pun intended -- about their lack of skills when it comes to getting their daughter's hair ready for the day can cut down on the criticism by attending Daddy/Daughter Hair School on April 1.
The class, being offered by Southeastern Illinois College’s (SIC) cosmetology program, will teacher fathers to make braids, up-dos and other hairstyles their daughters might like.
“We are excited about our Daddy/Daughter Hair School because in today’s world fathers are taking more responsibility in their children’s care,” Renee Boots, SIC cosmetology instructor, said. “More mothers are working outside of the home and we are seeing more ‘Mr. Moms.’ Our hope is to make mornings a little easier for dads and for them to have a new, fun way for them to spend more time with their daughters.”
The free class will run from 9 to 11 a.m., but registration is recommended since space is limited. Registration can be done by calling 252-5400, ex. 2213 or 2217.
“We have worked hard all year, and this is a fun way to give back to the community and show our talents, as well as help fathers stay away from the vacuum cleaner pony tails that you see online,” Shelby Carter, an SIC cosmetology student, said.
