Steve Rhoads has spent several decades on a football field, but this season will be his first as a head coach.
Rhoads, the associate head coach and running back coach at Morthland College last season, will replace Mike Popovich, who resigned after leading the Patriots to a 7-3 record last season in his only season with the program.
Rhoads has also been an assistant coach at Johnston City High School and Frankfort Community High School.
In addition, Rhoads was a football official for 25 years, included nine years at the NCAA Division I level. He worked the 1996 NCAA Division I-AA championship game.
Rhoads and Brent Coleman ran a furniture store that once occupied the building that is now Morthland campus' Coleman Rhoads building. They donated the building to Morthland three years ago.
