Cypress School District 64 Board met Feb. 21.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The regular meeting of the Cypress Elementary School Board of Education was called to order at 7:00pm on February 21st, 2017 by President John Wells.

Roll Call: Hartline, present; Moore, present; Oliver, preset; Penrod, present; Racey, present; Rudluff, absent; Wells, present ; Superintendent Shoemaker, present

Recognition of Visitors – Rusty Marks, Michelle Quertermous, Kristine Reid

Motion by Wells seconded by Racey to approve the minutes of the January 24th , 2017 Board meeting. All present voted yes.

Motion by Wells seconded by Racey to approve the closed session minutes of January 24th, 2017.

Motion by Wells seconded by Oliver to approve the treasurer’s report for January 2017. Hartline, yes; Moore, yes; Oliver, yes; Penrod, yes; Racey, yes; Rudluff, absent; Wells, yes

Motion by Wells seconded by Moore to approve the bills for February 2017. Hartline, yes; Moore, yes; Oliver, yes; Penrod, yes; Racey, yes; Rudluff, absent; Wells, yes

Motion made by Wells seconded by Hartline at 7:15 pm to adjourn to close session for Adjournment (Action Item) 5 ILCS 120/2

• The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity. 5 ILCS 120/2 (c)(1).

• Collective negotiating matters between the District and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(2).

• Litigation, when an action against, affecting or on behalf of the particular District has been filed and is pending before a court or administrative tribunal, or when the District finds that an action is probable or imminent, in which case the basis for the finding shall be recorded and entered into the closed meeting minutes. 5 ILCS 120/2 (c)(11). Motion by Wells seconded by Hartline to destroy executive session audio tapes older than 18 months per the school code. Hartline, yes; Moore, yes; Oliver, yes; Penrod, yes; Racey, yes; Rudluff, absent; Wells, yes

Motion by Wells seconded by Moore to set the 2017 graduation date for May 20th at 5pm. All present voted yes.

Motion by Wells seconded by Hartline to set a hearing for March 21st at 6:45pm to hear testimony regarding holiday waivers. Hartline, yes; Moore, yes; Oliver, yes; Penrod, yes; Racey, yes; Rudluff, absent; Wells, yes

Motion by Wells seconded by Racey to approve the FY 18 calendar as presented. All present voted yes.

Motion by Wells seconded by Moore to approve a resolution providing for the issue of General Obligation Bonds in the amount of $52,000, Series 2017, of the District, for the purpose of altering and reconstructing school buildings and purchasing and installing equipment therin for fire prevention and safety, energy conservation ans school security purposes, providing for the levy of a direct annual tax sufficient to pay the principal and interest of said bonds, and authorizing the sale of said bonds to the purchaser thereof..
