The price of local government: City of Albion

The City of Albion budget was $2.72 million for its 2015 fiscal year, or $2,996.88 per household.

That's an increase of 18 percent from 2014, when the city spent $2.31 million, or $2,540.31 per household.

Albion has 909 households and a population of 1,978.

Since 2001, the City of Albion budget has grown by 29 percent, from $2.11 million. The city population has grown 2.3 percent over the same period, from 1,933.

Salaries accounted for 19.2 percent of city spending in 2015. Albion property taxpayers paid $522,052.32 for nine full-time employees and 35 part-time employees.
