Almost 40 years after retiring, legendary Southern Illinois University (SIU) alumnus Walt Frazier still finds ways to score.
The former New York Knicks star who attended SIU from 1963 to 1967 was recently elected into the Small College Basketball (SCB) Hall of Fame.
During his time as a Saluki, he led the team to an NIT National Championship in his final year and was named tournament MVP. He was also a two-time All-American and the first SIU player to have his jersey retired.
Frazier was drafted by the Knicks and helped lead New York to its only two NBA titles in his 10 years there. He then played for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He is a member of the NBA Hall of Fame, a seven-time NBA All-Star and was named one of the 50 greatest NBA players of all time in a 1996 ranking.
The formal SCB induction ceremony will take place in Evanston, Indiana, in November.
