He also wanted to clarify and go through the Zoning Board of Appeals formal process. He added Council votes to approve or not to approve what is presented. It is not the Councils job to gather other/outside information, only what is presented in your packets.

George Walker gave thanks for all the cleanup work on the dilapidated homes and inquired about two properties. The first is owned by Friends of Fort Massac and in the process of demolition when funding is approved, the other site is for sale but needing exterior improvements.

Mayor’s Report:

The Annual Superman Celebration was a huge success due to the teamwork of everyone involved. We appreciate all who gave of their time to make this event what it is. The Lieutenant Governor, Evelyn Sanguinetti and State Senator, Dale Fowler came to the celebration and joined in on the festivities. Save the Massac raised over $3.300 selling food and holding a silent auction. We have many great events to draw people to Metropolis and should show our support. The Superman Archery Classic/National Championship Archery Tournament is June 16th-25th at Mermet.
