Fairfield FD responds to 13 fires in 2016

Fairfield Fire Department responded to 39 calls in 2016, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System obtained by the East Central Reporter.

The calls in Fairfield included 13 fires - eight structure fires, four vehicle fires and one other fire.

In all, the department saw $37,650 in fire loss - or about $2,896 per fire.

The department also received 26 false calls.

Two fire service members were injured in fire-related incidents.

The Fairfield Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has five active employees and two retired or inactive employees, was $117,788 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $9,061 for every fire in 2016.
