'Shop Southern Illinois' prize program underway

Christmas

Area shoppers can earn a chance to win prizes by buying their gifts locally this holiday season in the “Shop Southern Illinois” program.

In the program, customers who use the hashtag #IBuySI will be entered into drawings each week, with prizes coming from area chambers of commerce and Main Street program, the Marion Chamber of Commerce said on MarionIllinois.com.

Each prize package is worth at least $100. There is no cost or additional requirements to enter the drawings, and there is no limit on the number of times one can enter a drawing via the hashtag.

Upcoming dates and organizations for prize giveaways are: Nov. 17, Saline County Chamber of Commerce; Nov. 24, Perry County Chambers in Pinckneyville and DuQuoin; Dec. 1, Williams County Chambers in Carter, Herrin and Marion; Dec. 8, Nashville Chamber of Commerce; Dec. 15, Franklin County Chambers in Benton/West City and West Frankfort; and Dec. 22, Jackson County Chambers in Carbondale and Murphysboro. The grand prize will be given out on Dec. 29.

The winners will be alerted by the program's Facebook and Twitter accounts. Each winner will have two weeks to get their prizes.

Those wanting to donate prizes to the drawings can contact their local Main Street program or chamber of commerce.
