Jasper Community Consolidated School District 17 Board met September 28.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

A public hearing of the Jasper Board of Education convened on September 28, 2017 at 6:00 for the review of the fiscal year 2018 budget for the Jasper Community Consolidated School District #17. The following members were present:

Present at the hearing: Blaine Norton, Eric Gruen, Rennie Cates, Lachelle Thompson,

Chris Barbre & Derek Demaret

Absent at the hearing: Chris Otey

After no one addressed the Board concerning the budget, a motion was made by Eric Gruen and seconded by Chris Barbre to adopt the FY 2018 budget which starts July 1, 2017 to June 30,

2018. The votes were as follows:

Blaine Norton – yes Lachelle Thompson –yes

Chris Otey – absent Chris Barbre – yes

Eric Gruen –yes Derek Demaret – yes

Rennie Cates – yes

At the conclusion of the hearing and motion the Board proceeded to the regular meeting at 6:35 p.m. All board members present voted “yes.”

The consent agenda, which includes minutes of previous regular board meeting, executive session, bills and payrolls were then approved on a motion by Rennie Cates and seconded by Eric Gruen. The votes were as follows:

Blaine Norton – yes Lachelle Thompson –yes

Chris Otey – absent Chris Barbre – yes

Eric Gruen –yes Derek Demaret – yes

Rennie Cates – yes

A motion was made by Lachelle Thompson and seconded by Chris Barbre to approve the 1st reading of IASB PRESS policies. The votes were as follows:

Blaine Norton – yes Lachelle Thompson –yes

Chris Otey – absent Chris Barbre – yes

Eric Gruen –yes Derek Demaret – yes

Rennie Cates – yes

A motion was made by Eric Gruen and seconded by Rennie Cates to approve the Wayne County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan. The votes were as follows:

Blaine Norton – yes Lachelle Thompson –yes

Chris Otey – absent Chris Barbre – yes

Eric Gruen –yes Derek Demaret – yes

Rennie Cates – yes

A motion was made by Rennie Cates and seconded by Lachelle Thompson to employ Beth Thomason as a personal aide for Kindergarten. The votes were as follows:

Blaine Norton – yes Lachelle Thompson –yes

Chris Otey – absent Chris Barbre – yes

Eric Gruen –yes Derek Demaret – yes

Rennie Cates – yes

A motion was made by Eric Gruen and seconded by Rennie Cates to employ Carri Weaver as part-time K-4 resource room aide. The votes were as follows:

Blaine Norton – yes Lachelle Thompson –yes

Chris Otey – absent Chris Barbre – yes

Eric Gruen –yes Derek Demaret – yes

Rennie Cates – yes

A motion was made by Eric Gruen and seconded by Chris Barbre to employ Kathryn Perez as part-time lunch custodian. The votes were as follows:

Blaine Norton – yes Lachelle Thompson –yes

Chris Otey – absent Chris Barbre – yes

Eric Gruen –yes Derek Demaret – yes

Rennie Cates – yes

A motion was made by Eric Gruen and seconded by Chris Barbre to authorize superintendent to post and/or fill vacancies as discussed. The votes were as follows:

Blaine Norton – yes Lachelle Thompson –yes

Chris Otey – absent Chris Barbre – yes

Eric Gruen –yes Derek Demaret – yes

Rennie Cates – yes

A motion was made by Rennie Cates and seconded by Lachelle Thompson to eliminate executive session minutes from March 2015. The votes were as follows:

Blaine Norton – yes Lachelle Thompson –yes

Chris Otey – absent Chris Barbre – yes

Eric Gruen –yes Derek Demaret – yes

Rennie Cates – yes

A final motion was made by Rennie Cates and seconded by Eric Gruen to adjourn at 7:23 p.m. The votes were as follows:
