Franklin Park Public Library District Board of Trustees met January 9.

The Board meeting was called to order by Board President Grieashamer at 7:30 p.m.
Board members present: Kay Frey, Frank Grieashamer, Erica Lazcano, Teresita Zaretsky, and Michael Vallone
Board members absent: Theresa Aiello and Joseph Reyes
Staff members present: Marie Saeli, Executive Director; Vanessa Morrison, Assistant Director; and Stan
Monkus, Business Manager
Public Comment
There was no public comment.
Disposition of Minutes
Vallone moved and Lazcano seconded that the minutes of the December 12, 2017, Regular Board meeting be approved. Motion #1 carried. Voice vote.
Financial Reports and Approval of Expenditures
Vallone read the financial report.
Frey moved and Vallone seconded that checks #21110 through #21134 disbursed from the US Bank checking account, totaling $18,696.13; payroll liabilities, including payroll taxes, totaling $73,561.37; and the November IMRF payment made in December of $6,712.98, for a total of $98,970.48 be approved. Motion #2 carried. Frey – Aye, Grieashamer – Aye, Lazcano – Aye, Zaretsky – Aye, Vallone – Aye.
Frey moved and Vallone seconded that the transfer on December 14, 2017, of $100,000 from the District’s MaxSafe account to the US Bank Checking account be approved. Motion #3 carried. Frey – Aye, Grieashamer – Aye, Lazcano – Aye, Zaretsky – Aye, Vallone – Aye.
Communications

Committee Reports
There were no Committee reports.
Executive Director and Staff Reports
Saeli’s written report to the Board, which included meetings held and attended, was included in the Board packet. Circulation, Information and Digital Services, and Technical Services departmental reports also were included in the Board packet.
Saeli also reported that the Franklin Park Public Library District’s 2017 Library Journal national ranking is 912, which is 73 points higher than in 2016.
In addition, Saeli noted that the Library received a donation of $125.00 from the Franklin Park Woman’s Club.

There was no new information to discuss.
Juvenile Library Accounts and Collection
The Board was considering the idea of requiring signing the adult up for a card at the same time as a juvenile if the adult does not already have a library card in the system. After discussing the library card registration policies of twelve area libraries, the Board decided not to change the current registration policies of the Franklin Park Public Library District.
New Business
Staff Appreciation Banquet
The Board discussed plans for the annual staff appreciation luncheon.
Nonresident Library Card Program Participation Renewal
Frey moved and Lazcano seconded that the Franklin Park Public Library District renew its participation in the Illinois State Nonresident Library Card Program. Motion #4 carried. Frey – Aye, Grieashamer – Aye, Lazcano – Aye, Zaretsky – Aye, Vallone – Aye.
Closed/Executive Session
An Executive Session was not called.

Frey moved and Zaretsky seconded that the meeting be adjourned. Voice vote.
