Eldorado Memorial Public Library Board met Feb. 8.
Here is the agenda provided by the Board:
Present : Trustees- Jeff Campbell, Bob Barker, Sheila Baird, Janet Davis, Mike Vessell, Bookkeeper-Patsy Simpson and Library Director Felicia Murray
Absent : Trustees-Walter Baker and Susan Justice
Public Citizenry : None
President Sheila Baird called the meeting to order at 5:10 pm
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as presented.
Bob Barker presented the treasurer’s report. There were no outstanding issues. Mike Vessell made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report and to pay the bills. Janet Davis seconded the motion. All voted aye with a roll call vote.
Felicia Murray presented the Librarians Report. There were 2906 items circulated for the month, with a year to date total of 19272. E-resources totaled 290 for the month with 1940 items circulated for the year to date. There were 445 loaned items and 844 borrowed items. There were 13 in-state loans and 0 out of state loans. Ten new patrons were registered last month for a total of 3837 patrons. Computer users totaled 583 last month with a year to date total of 4074 users. Total receipts amounted to $1407.00 including $518.11 from the City of Eldorado.
Unfinished Business:
Raising the ac unit : Felicia Murray obtained a more detailed contract from Biggs Heating and Air. Bob Barker expressed concerns that the contract was still not specific enough. Mr. Barker suggested that the designated contractor should pour a concrete base for the ac platform. It was also suggested by Mr. Barker that the platform for the ac unit should be constructed out of steel. Mrs. Murray will contact Biggs with these suggestions and report back to the board of trustees.
New Business :
ARSL Conference : A conference for the Association for Rural and Small Libraries will be held in Springfield IL from Sept.13-15th. The annual fee is $49.00. Mrs. Murray would like to attend this event and will provide more details at a future meeting.
ALA Conference : Mrs. Murray plans on attending the ALA Conference in New Orleans in June. The exhibit pass is $75.00. Bob Barker made a motion that the library fund Mrs. Murray’s attendance to this conference, including all fees and reimbursement for meals and lodging. Janet Davis seconded the motion. All present voted aye with a roll call vote.
Legislative Meet-up : Mrs. Murray plans on attending this event in Effingham on Feb. 23rd.
Mini Construction Grant : This grant has been completed and submitted for new flooring. These funds may be delayed. Money could be borrowed from tort liability or reserve to pay for the flooring. When released, the grant money could be used to reimburse tort liability or reserve.
McDonald’s Grant : The library will apply for this $500.00 grant.
