City of Albion City Council met April 16.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

The Albion City Council met in regular session on Mar 19, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. in the Albion City Hall. Mayor John Henze called the meeting to order and led Pledge of Allegiance.

Roll Call: Present- Pat Hemming, Eric Eirikson, Kim Dostal, Jordan Hinkle and Eric Schmidt absent.

Hemming moved to approve the agenda and Dostal seconded it. Motion passed 4-0

Eirikson moved to approve the consent agenda and was seconded by Hemming. The consent agenda consisted of regular minutes from Mar 19, 2018, minutes, and approval claims for payment, and financial reports. Motion passed 4-0.

Deputy Dean gave the Sheriff’s report. Calling the communications center resulted in the fining of an ATV rider in March.

Eric Schmidt - public safety – nothing to report

Evan McRill gave the Fire Department report stating planning is still in place for the addition to F.D. The F.D. will be doing practice burns and will be burning a house.

Doug Loffgren gave the First Responder report stating they the auditor return was happy with the results of the team getting things back in order.

Julia Ohrt, Librarian, stated the library a direct mail flyer will be coming out with summer programming for both kids and adults.

Jordan Hinkle, parks and rec department stated a there are concerns about handicap accessibility to both the concession stand and the restrooms, the safety of the playground equipment, and tiling on the infield. Rick Matney of McRill Stowell Ins stated he, Doug and EMC will inspect the playground equipment. Rick also said that the City can utilize EMC to determine ADA compliance of the concessions and restrooms. In regards to tiling of the infield the Albion Baseball Association will need to have it bid out.

Eric Eirikson – streets – nothing to report

Doug Loffgren – city maintenance – nothing to report.

Wade Dooley – Albion Library Board – came forward with a request to the council to amend FY 17-18 and FY 18-19 to include salary for their part-time employee. Budget amendment request was passed by council.

Rick Matney – McRill, Stowell Ins. Agent – came forward with the City’s insurance renewal. Hemming approved and Dostal seconded changing property deduction from $500 to $1000. Motion passed 4-0.

Ashley Keefer – City Celebration Chairperson – came forward with information regarding the celebration and gained approval to close 100 block of W Jefferson for the celebration.

Rhonda Guy – POM – gave March 2018 water/wastewater report stating that all tests were on schedule and in compliance. After providing Rhonda with the information from 4/12/18 water workshop. It was decided that the council have another water workshop on either April 25 or 26. Rhonda is to get back with the council with date and time. Rhonda also invited council to a wastewater funding meeting being held 4/24/18.

Eirikson motioned and Hinkle seconded for adjournment of the meeting. Motion passed 4-0. Meeting adjourned at 7:38 pm.
