The Albion City Council met for a special council session on Apr 25, 2018 5:30 p.m. in the Albion City Hall. Mayor John
Henze called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Council Members Present – Eric Eirikson, Kim Dostal, Pat Hemming, Eric Schmidt, and absent Jordan Hinkle
Attendees: Bob Veenstra – V&K Engineering, Steve Sincox – Marshalltown Water Works, Rhonda Guy - POM
Motion to approve agenda by Hemming and seconded by Schmidt. Motion passed 4-0.
Marshalltown has 2 pressure zones 1) Center St Rd 2) Summit St and Valley View Rd. Which raised questions of the necessity of a booster station and the possibility of using the right-of-way along the bike trail to run piping. Connection fees to Marshalltown is based on the meter size. With a connection to Marshalltown an altitude/control valve would need installed to control the water flow in the water tower. Also, a check valve for backflow. Regulatory testing would still be required. A Marshalltown connection would provide softer water to the community. Veenstra will prepare information, mapping, and a cost analysis to run from Summit St & Valley View Rd using to alternatives 1) along the bike trail 2) along Summit Rd and HWY 330.
Hemming motioned and Schmidt seconded to adjourn. Motion passed 4-0. Meeting adjourned at 7:08 pm.
