Report: Hamilton County spent $8,542 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Hamilton County Community Unit School District 10 is down 6 percent from five years ago, according to a SE Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Hamilton County school district spent $9,102 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,542 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 1207 to 1260.

Hamilton County's spending in 2016-17 was 34 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
