Report: Carmi White County spent $8,467 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Carmi White County Community Unit School District 5 is down 20 percent from five years ago, according to a SE Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the White County school district spent $10,642 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,467 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 1332 to 1466.

Carmi White County's spending in 2016-17 was 35 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
