Report: Jasper spent $9,927 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Jasper Community Consolidated School District 17 is up 3 percent from five years ago, according to a SE Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Wayne County school district spent $9,653 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $9,927 in 2016-17.

The district's enrollment remained unchanged over the same period, with 163 students.

Jasper's spending in 2016-17 was 23 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
