Galatia Public Library District Board met April 24.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The Library Board Meeting was called to order by President, Jerry Davis at 5:00 pm.

Roll call was taken with the following present: Davis, Dilback, Eaton, Fulkerson, Hunter, and Jackson.

Minutes

A motion was made by Jackson and seconded by Eaton to approve the minutes from the March, 2018 meeting. All approved. Motion carried.

Financial Report

A motion was made by Eaton and seconded by Hunter to approve the financial report from the March, 2018 meeting. All approved. Motion carried.

Directors Report for March 2018

April 3 – FY Per Capita received $1851.03;

On 4/18 an additional $2.86 was received for a total of $1853.89

During National Library Week, the “Friends” group provided seed packets to patrons.

Sowing a good habit-READ!! Was the theme they were building on. Also, patrons can

access Facebook as of April 11. The “Friends” groups is overseeing this as well.

April 18 – Attended a Members Matter meeting in Benton. Discussion centered on suggestions concerning how the Illinois Heartland Library System could better support its member libraries.

April 18 – Received letter confirming our “Back to Books” grant in the amount of $1000.

NEW BUSINESS:

A letter from Jesse White, Secretary of State, awarding the Galatia Public Library District a FY2018 Per Capita Grant in the amount of $2,980.00 was discussed.

A letter from Jesse White, Secretary of State, awarding the Galatia Public Library a FY2018 Back to Books grant for $1,000.00 In support of Tweens Do STEM was discussed.

A motion was made by Jackson and seconded by Hunter to look into repair of the library’s front door which needs sanding down and varnished.

A motion was made by Hunter and seconded by Fulkerson to close the library on June 2, the Saturday of Old Settler’s Days. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Fulkerson and seconded Eaton to adjourn the meeting. All approved. Motion carried.
