City of Albion City Council met March 6.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

The Albion City Council met for a special council session on Mar 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the Albion City Hall. Mayor John Henze called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Roll Call: Council Members Present – Pat Hemming, Eric Eirikson, Kim Dostal, Eric Schmidt, and Jordan Hinkle.

A motion by Schmidt and seconded by Dostal to approve the agenda. Motion passed 5-0.

Public Hearing opened 6:31

Roll call: Hemming, Eirikson, Schmidt, Hinkle, Dostal

Resolution 2018-01 approval of proposed budget for FY 18-19 was approved with correction to Revenues by Eirikson and seconded by Hemming. Resolution passed 5-0.

Public Hearing closed 6:37

Motion to approve the disposal of tires from the ACC roof was approved by Schmidt and seconded by Dostal. Motion passed 5-0.

The resolution for asbestos removal and demolition was presented to the council. It will be added to the Monday March 19, 2018 meeting. City Clerk, Wallen discussed with the council the potential of receiving asbestos and demolition monies from the Heart of Iowa Economic Development Program. Mrs. Wallen had spoken with Jenny at Heart of Iowa and Brian will be taking the financial information to their board on March 6, 2018. Results from the meeting should be available on March 8, 2018.

The water committee brought to the council a financial hardship. It was approved to remove penalty fees and to set up a payment plan for the resident.

The count on the amount of tires that was on the roof of the ACC was 283. Community service person was used to remove the tires from the roof and drop them to the ground. The tires were then stacked along the north said of the ACC.

The council approved that the city clerk may attend the Iowa User Group Meeting in Des Moines on Wed April 18, 2018.

A motion by Hemming and seconded by Schmidt to adjourn. Motion passed 5-0. Meeting adjourned at 7:07 pm.
