Albion Volunteer Fire Department responded to 42 calls in 2017 - 35.5 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Albion included 31 fires - 11 structure fires, three vehicle fires and 17 other fires.

In all, the department saw $299,000 in fire loss - or about $9,645 per fire.

The department also received 11 false calls.

The Albion Volunteer Fire Department had an annual budget of $30,570 in 2017.
