Harrisburg Public Library District Board of Trustees met May 14.

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Harrisburg Public Library District was called to order by President Janet Jones at 5:06 pm. Those in attendance were Trustees Joe Ewing, Sally Wofford, Kelly Phelps, Lynda Clemmons, and Director Krystal Gulley.
Consent Agenda: A motion was made by Lynda Clemmons to accept last month’s minutes/consent agenda as presented. The motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote.
President: Janet Jones discussed the recent publication in the Southern Illinoisan regarding the per capita for the library
Committee Reports
Building Committee
- Joe Ewing reported that Steve Crabb indicated that he couldn’t take on any additional projects (regarding maintenance and small repairs to the building). A decision was made to wait to see if Alex Garnett became available.
Director’s Report:
- Discussed nonresident charge remaining at 65 dollars since it was raised 5 dollars last years.
A motion was made by Kelly Phelps to keep the charge at 65 dollars and it carried unanimously.
- Ordinance 17/18-5 was discussed and a motion was made by Sally Wofford to pass the ordinance and it carried unanimously.
- Kayla DePriest was hired as a part time employee at the library
- Discussion were held about hiring Marcy Foy for cleaning and other small jobs. A decision was made to hire her at 20 hours per week and any additional hours would have to be preapproved by the Director. It was also determined that she would be hired on a 60-day probationary period.
- The bid by Tri-State Business equipment for the copier was discussed. A motion was made by Lynda Clemmons to accept the bid and said motion carried unanimously.
- Julie’s retirement was discussed. A motion by Sally Wofford was made to give her a bonus of $50 dollars per year based on her years of service. The motion based unanimously
A motion was made by Trustee Ewing to adjourn at 5:49.
