City of Albion City Council met July 16.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

The Albion City Council met in regular session on July 16, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. in the Albion City Hall. Mayor John Henze called the meeting to order and led Pledge of Allegiance.

Roll Call: Present- Pat Hemming, Eric Eirikson, Eric Schmidt, Kim Dostal, and Jordan Hinkle.

Clerk Wallen announced a change to the agenda regarding the numerating of resolutions: Resolutions 2018-04 and 2018-05 were combined into one resolution #2018-04, all other resolutions then moved up one number ending resolution 2018-06.

Schmidt moved to approve the agenda with the resolution numbering changes and Dostal seconded it. Motion passed 5-0

Hemming moved to approve the consent agenda and was seconded by Eirikson. The consent agenda consisted of regular minutes from May 21, 2018, minutes, and approval claims for payment, and financial reports. Motion passed 5-0.

Deputy Dean gave the Sheriff’s report.

Public Safety, EMS, Park & Rec, City Maintenance – nothing to report.

Evan McRill, Fire Chief, reported waiting on final bids for building expansion.

Pat Hemming – Water report State Representative Mark Smith was contacted about Albion’s current water situation. MPA test is not back from lab yet.

Kim Dostal, wastewater, reported a new pump was ordered for lift station

Julia Ohrt, Librarian, County wide library board training meeting on July 31st in State Center

Eric Eirikson, streets, getting bids for repairs.

Resolution #2018-03 Approving pay rates for FY 18-19 was motioned to approve by Hemming and seconded by Dostal. Resolution passed 5-0.

Resolution #2018-04 approving contract between the City of Albion and both Abatement specialties and MD Construction was motioned to approve by Dostal and seconded by Eirikson. Resolution passed 5-0.

Resolution #2018-05 between the City of Albion and Heart of Iowa Cooperative to loan the City monies Opt B for the asbestos removal and demolition of the ACC was motioned to approve by all pending the date of issuance of monies.

Resolution #2018-06 approving a contract between City of Albion and Access Systems was tabled until Aug meeting for collection of further information.

A motion to approve the enactment of the Home Rule Proclamation was motioned by Hemming and seconded by Schmidt. Motion passed 5-0.

Eirikson motioned and Hemming seconded for adjournment of the meeting. Motion passed 5-0. Meeting adjourned at 7:27 pm.
