How much has Jasper CCSD 17 overspent over the past 10 years?

Jasper Community Consolidated School District 17 accumulated $4.46 million in debt between fiscal years 2008 and 2017, according to a SE Illinois News analysis of public schools data.

Spending and revenue data obtained for this analysis comes from the Illinois Local Education Agency Retrieval Network (ILEARN), which is part of the Illinois State Board of Education and collects data annually on school district financials.

Over the 10-year span, Jasper CCSD 17 reported 4.1 percent more revenue. At the same time, total spending went down 38.3 percent. The resulting deficit shrunk by 95.3 percent from 2008 to 2017.
