Republican candidate Patrick Windhorst recently endorsed “The People’s Pledge,” a vow to remove House Speaker Mike Madigan from power and establish term limits for elected officials in Illinois.
“The message of 'The People’s Pledge' is simple,” Windhorst wrote on Facebook.
Windhorst is running against Rep. Natalie Phelps-Finnie (D-Elizabethtown) for the District 118 Illinois House seat.

In his Facebook post, he goes on to outline the main tenets of the one-page People's Pledge, which include disapproval of “politicians consolidating power at the expense of Illinois taxpayers” and letting “the Phelps dynasty take independence only to sell our voice to Madigan yet again.”
The pledge campaign was launched by Gov. Bruce Rauner in July with the goal of introducing term limits to the general assembly.
“We are taking back Southern Illinois on Nov. 6,” Windhorst said.
The 118th House District includes parts of Alexander, Gallatin, Hamilton, Hardin, Jackson, Johnson, Massac, Pope, Pulaski, Saline and Union counties.
