Wayne City Community Unit School District 100 students suspended 45 times in a single school year

Wayne City Community Unit School District 100 reported 45 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 45 students during the year. That equates to 8.7 percent of the 515 students enrolled.

Of the 39 in-school suspensions, including 11 elementary or middle schoolers and 28 high schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 35 incidents. There were four incidents of violence without physical injury. For 28 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes six incidents. For four incidents, students were suspended for 3-5 days.
