Galatia Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met Aug. 9.
Here is the minutes provided by the Board:
The special meeting of the Galatia Community Unit School District No. 1 Board was held in the boardroom at the junior/senior high school. Roll call was taken, and those present were Tim Pribble, Justin Travelstead, Bryan McCabe and BJ Pigg. Joy Richey, Elaine Jackson, and Aaron Allen were absent. Four (4) members present and three (3) members absent. Board President Tim Pribble called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m.
VISITORS: There were no visitors present.
ADDITIONS/DELETIONS TO AGENDA: There were no additions/deletions to the agenda.
EXECUTIVE SESSION:
1) A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Pigg to enter into executive session at 7:08 p.m. to discuss compensation, employment, hiring, firing, of prospective or current employees (personnel), review executive session minutes, professional negotiations, and matters of student discipline. McCabe- aye, Travelstead-aye, Pribble-aye, and Pigg-aye. Four (4) ayes, motion carried.
2) A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by McCabe to end executive session at 8:05 p.m.
McCabe-aye, Travelstead-aye, Pribble-aye, and Pigg-aye. Four (4) ayes, motion carried.
3) A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by McCabe to approve executive session minutes as read.
Pribble-aye, Travelstead-aye, Pigg-aye, and McCabe-aye. Four (4) ayes, motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS:
4) A motion was made by Pigg and seconded by McCabe to accept Kendra Reed’s resignation, effective
immediately. Pribble-aye, Travelstead-aye, Pigg-aye, and McCabe-aye. Four (4) ayes, motion carried.
5) A motion was made by Pigg and seconded by McCabe to hire Heather Lynn as an individual aide, as needed, for the 2018/2019 school year. Travelstead-aye, Pigg-aye, Pribble-aye, and McCabe-aye. Four (4) ayes, motion carried.
6) A motion was made by Pigg and seconded by McCabe accept David Myer’s resignation, effective immediately. Pribble-aye, Travelstead-aye, Pigg-aye, and McCabe-aye. Four (4) ayes, motion carried.
7) A motion was made by McCabe and seconded by Allen to employ John Fuller as physical education teacher for the district, for the 2018/2019 school year, per salary schedule, pending background check. Pribble-aye, Travelstead-aye, Pigg-aye, and McCabe-aye. Four (4) ayes, motion carried.
ADJOURNMENT:
8) A motion was made by McCabe and seconded by Pigg to adjourn at 8:40 p.m. Travelstead-aye, Pigg- aye, McCabe-aye, and Pribble-aye. Four (4) ayes, motion carried.
