Massac County Sheriff Ted Holder recently endorsed Patrick Windhorst, the Massac County State's Attorney, for state representative for the 118th District.
In a half-minute Facebook video, Holder said there’s no prosecutor he would rather work with than Windhorst.
“Since Patrick became state’s attorney in Massac County, violent crime has been reduced by 59 percent,” Holder said in the video. “Patrick has the integrity and character to serve the people of Southern Illinois, and he has the toughness and backbone to hold politicians accountable in Springfield. I stand with PW and I hope you will too on Nov. 6.”
Rep. Natalie Phelps Finnie
In a separate video, Johnson County Sheriff Pete Sopczak also endorsed Windhorst, saying he doesn’t shy away from tough decisions or hard work and has been willing to put criminals behind bars when necessary.
“Those of us who know Patrick — who have worked with him — know that he has the strength of character that will never waver when things get difficult,” Sopczak said. “And that’s why we need him representing us in Springfield.”
Windhorst will face Democrat Rep. Natalie Phelps Finnie (D-Harrisburg) in the Nov. 6 general election.
The 118th House District covers the cities of Anna, Brookport, Cairo, Carbondale, Eldorado, Golconda, Harrisburg, Marion, McLeansboro, Metropolis, Mound City, Mounds, Rosiclare, Shawneetown and Vienna.
