The Madigan funding was disclosed in reports filed with the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE) by Friends of Natalie Phelps Finnie, the campaign committee that supports Finnie’s race against Republican Patrick Windhorst in the 118th District.
The district covers all or part of Anna, Brookport, Cairo, Carbondale, Eldorado, Golconda, Harrisburg, Marion, McLeansboro, Metropolis, Mound City, Mounds, Rosiclare, Shawneetown and Vienna.
Madigan’s contributions to Finnie came from the campaign funds he controls, including his own committee, Friends of Michael J. Madigan, the Illinois Democratic Party and the Democratic County Chairman’s Association of Illinois. In all, Madigan has contributed $543,719 to the candidate’s campaign.
From Sept. 29 to Oct. 17, Madigan spent $4.37 million backing campaigns for 25 candidates.
