Jasper Community Consolidated School District 17 Board met September 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

A public hearing of the Jasper Board of Education convened on September 20, 2018 at 6:00 for the review of the fiscal year 2018 budget for the Jasper Community Consolidated School District #17. The following members were present:

Present at the hearing: Blaine Norton (arrived 6:45), Eric Gruen, Rennie Cates(left 7:45), Lachelle Thompson, Chris Otey (left 8:15) & Derek Demaret

Absent at the hearing: Chris Barbre

After no one addressed the Board concerning the budget, a motion was made by Eric Gruen and seconded by Rennie Cates to adopt the FY 2019 budget which starts July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019. The votes were as follows:

Blaine Norton – absent for vote Lachelle Thompson –yes

Chris Otey –yes Chris Barbre – absent

Eric Gruen –yes Derek Demaret – yes

Rennie Cates – yes

At the conclusion of the hearing and motion the Board proceeded to the regular. All board members present voted “yes.”

The consent agenda, which includes minutes of previous regular board meeting, executive session, bills and payrolls were then approved on a motion by Lachelle Thompson and seconded by Rennie Cates. The votes were as follows:

Rennie Cates – yes

A motion was made by Rennie Cates and seconded by Eric Gruen to approve the 2nd reading of IASB PRESS policies. The votes were as follows:

Chris Otey –yes Chris Barbre – absent

Eric Gruen –yes Derek Demaret – yes

Rennie Cates – yes

A motion was made by Rennie Cates and seconded by Lachelle Thompson to authorize Superintendent to post and/or fill vacancies as discussed. The votes were as follows:

Chris Otey –yes Chris Barbre – absent

Eric Gruen –yes Derek Demaret – yes

Rennie Cates – yes

A motion was made by Lachelle Thompson and seconded by Rennie Cates to eliminate executive session minutes from February 2016. The votes were as follows:

Eric Gruen –yes Derek Demaret – yes

Rennie Cates – yes

A motion was made by Eric Gruen and seconded by Lachelle Thompson to hire Leymone Hardcastle & Co. Ltd to perform district audit. The votes were as follows:

Rennie Cates – absent for vote

A motion was made by Eric Gruen and seconded by Lachelle Thompson to assign a search committee for superintendent: Derek Demaret-chair, Lachelle Thompson, Blaine Norton and

Cindy Ellis.

A motion was made by Lachelle Thompson and seconded by Eric Gruen to authorize posting & advertising of superintendent & librarian vacancy. The votes were as follows:

Eric Gruen –yes Derek Demaret – yes

Rennie Cates – absent for vote

A final motion was made by Eric Gruen and seconded by Lachelle Thompson to adjourn at 8:25 p.m. The votes were as follows:
