Galatia Public Library District Board met Oct. 23.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Library Board meeting was called to order by President, Jerry Davis, at 5:00 p.m.

Roll call was taken with the following present: Davis, Dilback, Eaton, Fulkerson, Hunter, Jackson, and Sisney.

Minutes

A motion was made by Jackson and seconded by Fulkerson to approve the minutes from the September 2018 meeting. All approved. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Hunter and seconded by Eaton to approve the financial report from the September 2018 meeting. All approved. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Fulkerson and seconded by Sisney to move some monies that are now in the checking account which no longer earn interest into the savings account.

All approved. Motion carried.

Director’s Report for October, 2018:

Budget and Appropriation Ordinance #18/19-01 and Tax Levy Ordinance #18/19-02 were filed at Hamilton County and Saline County on 9/28/18.

The last Tweens Do STEM class ended on October 1, National 4-H Youth Science Day, with a coding class. Members of the “Friends” group provided refreshments for these classes.

A wreath making class was presented by Darlene Higgins on October 15.

Quarterly report for the Back to Books Grant was submitted on October 15.

Tax money in the amount of $968.51 was received from Saline County and deposited on 10/16/2018.

All paperwork has been sent to Enersol for the lighting upgrade. The lighting upgrade must be installed by Mid November 2018.

Book sale will begin October 29.

Alice will be off from November 5-11.

New Business:

Per capita req. Chapter 9 – Facilities and Chapter 10 – Budgeting and financial management were reviewed and discussed.

Election information was discussed –

A motion was made by Eaton and seconded by Sisney to increase Alice Hays hourly wage for both cleaning and duties as librarian assistant from $11.00 to $12.00 per hour starting February 1, 2019.

Announcements: November meeting time changes to 4:00 p.m.

Next Agenda: 1. Finish per capita requirements; 2. Building walk through; 3. Biannual closed minutes review.

A motion was made by Jackson and seconded by Eaton to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
