Carmi White Cnty Middle School issued the following announcement on Dec. 21.
Today was a great day for our junior high student council members. We started out by having a Christmas breakfast and gift exchange at IHOP, and then the service began to unfold. We dropped off socks at one shelter in Evansville and were able to see a soup kitchen in action.
Socks are the biggest need in shelters this time of year. We then travelled to Ozanam Family Shelter and began working to put together hospitality kits for new families coming in. They include things like pillows, sheets, blankets, towels and wash clothes. Typically when families come into the shelter they do not have these basic necessities. We also cleaned several areas within the shelter.
We were able to meet a couple of kids staying there, and one was a 17 month old baby boy. We loved playing with him. What a way to serve others! We are so proud of these kids and their willingness to serve others. #bethegift #bullpuppride
