Report: Carmi-White County spent $8,695 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Carmi-White County Community Unit School District 5 is down 13.8 percent from five years ago, according to a SE Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the White County school district spent $10,087 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $8,695 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 1331 to 1421.

Carmi-White County's spending in 2017-18 was 34.8 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
