WABASH VALLEY COLLEGE: Wabash Valley College’s Jacob Quillen

Wabash Valley College issued the following announcement on Feb. 8.

Wabash Valley College’s Jacob Quillen of West Salem will be traveling to Las Vegas, Nevada, February 8-10 to compete in the 2019 U.S. Collegiate Archery Association’s (USCA) National Indoor Archery Championships. Jacob is a freshman enrolled in the Diesel program.

To qualify for the finals, competitors had to make top eight in their division for all of the USCA’s regional shoots combined. These shoots were held in New Mexico, South Dakota, Mississippi, and Kentucky. Quillen competed at the regional in Madisonville, Kentucky, in late January and ranked #6 in the men’s bowhunter class, posting a four-round score of 1167.

“Jacob works very hard and is an all-around solid shooter with a great mental game,” said Head Archery Coach Earl Lawrence. “He is capable of being highly competitive at the national level and bringing home a top finish for WVC Archery.”

WVC President Matt Fowler added, “Jacob is an excellent representative of Wabash Valley College athletics.” “His work in the classroom and on the range showcase the dedication and determination it takes to be excellent.”

The 2019 final tournaments shall be held at and in conjunction with the 2019 World Archery Festival Vegas Shoot the weekend of February 8 at the South Point Casino and Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
