Jasper Community Consolidated School District 17 Board met Feb. 21.

The regular meeting of the Jasper School Board of Education was called to order by Board President Blaine Norton and Derek Demaret taking the minutes, on February 21, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. with following board members present:

Board Members Present: Blaine Norton, Chris Otey, Eric Gruen, Rennie Cates, Lachelle Thompson (arrive 6:05), Chris Barbre & Derek Demaret

Board Members Absent:

The consent agenda, which includes minutes of previous regular board meeting, executive session, bills and payrolls were then approved on a motion by Rennie Cates and seconded by Chris Barbre. The votes were as follows:

Chris Otey –yes Chris Barbre – yes

Eric Gruen – yes Derek Demaret – yes

Rennie Cates – yes

A motion was made by Chris Otey and seconded by Rennie Cates to eliminate executive session minutes from July 2016. The votes were as follows:

Eric Gruen – yes Derek Demaret – yes

Rennie Cates – yes

A motion was made by Chris Barbre and seconded by Lachelle Thompson to set the eighth grade graduation as May 9, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. The votes were as follows:

Eric Gruen – yes Derek Demaret – yes

Rennie Cates – yes

A motion made by Chris Otey and seconded by Chris Barbre to re-employ the administrators for FY 2020 as follows: Assistant Principal Cindy Ellis & Athletic Director Eric Basnett. The votes were as follows:

Chris Otey –yes Chris Barbre – yes

Eric Gruen – yes Derek Demaret – yes

Rennie Cates – yes

A motion was made by Rennie Cates and seconded by Chris Barbre to recognize the annual review of the Wellness policy. The votes were as follows:

Eric Gruen – yes Derek Demaret – yes

Rennie Cates – yes

A motion was made by Lachelle Thompson and seconded by Chris Otey to hire Jon Julius, with multiyear contract, as Principal/Superintendent starting FY20. The votes were as follows:

Eric Gruen – yes Derek Demaret – yes

Rennie Cates – yes

A motion was made by Rennie Cates and seconded by Lachelle Thompson to accept retirement resignation of Jean Simpson as bus driver. The votes were as follows:

Eric Gruen – yes Derek Demaret – yes

A motion was made by Chris Barbre and seconded by Chris Otey to accept retirement resignation of Berta Onstott as Speech Pathologist. The votes were as follows:

A final motion was made by Rennie Cates and seconded by Chris Barbre to adjourn at 7:37 p.m. The votes were as follows:
