The price of local government in 2016: Village of Mt. Erie

The Village of Mt. Erie budget was $2.05 million for its 2016 fiscal year, or $1,986 per household.

That's a decrease of 0.9 percent from 2015, when the village spent $2.06 million, or $2,005 per household.

Mt. Erie has 1,030 households and a population of 1,602.

Since 2001, the Village of Mt. Erie budget has fallen by 40.7 percent, from $3.45 million. The village population has grown 0.8 percent over the same period, from 1,589.

Salaries accounted for 17.6 percent of village spending in 2016. Mt. Erie property taxpayers paid $361,057 for eight full-time employees and 16 part-time employees.

In 2001, the village had four full-time employees and four part-time employees, and spent $233,589.
