The price of local government in 2017: Village of Burnt Prairie

The Village of Burnt Prairie budget was $155,346 for its 2017 fiscal year, or $5,548 per household.

That's a decrease of 3.7 percent from 2016, when the village spent $161,288, or $5,760 per household.

Burnt Prairie has 28 households and a population of 52.

Since 2001, the Village of Burnt Prairie budget has grown by 164.2 percent, from $58,788. The village population has fallen 26.8 percent over the same period, from 71.

Salaries accounted for 16.4 percent of village spending in 2017. Burnt Prairie property taxpayers paid $25,441 for seven full-time employees and six part-time employees.

In 2001, the village had nine part-time employees and spent $23,172, or $2,575 each.
