Harrisburg City Council met Monday, May 6.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor John McPeek presided over the meeting with Commissioners Raymond Gunning, Roger Angelly, Rupert Johnson and Ron Morse answering roll call.

Rupert Johnson made the motion to award Ben Teston of Pinoy Construction Company the contract for the Mill Street Extension for $171,027.91. Seconded by Roger Angelly. A roll call vote was taken with all present voting yes. Motion carried.

Mayor John McPeek announced that the City of Harrisburg and the Fire Department will be sending flowers to the Christopher Fire Department as a result of their loss of a Fireman.

Jim Brown let the council know the Mill Street Project is a carryover from the last council. He wants everyone to be aware that Sloan Street could possibly be shut down for up to 14 days to tie into the storm sewer system. The Council will need to consider alternate routes during this time.

Ben Teston stated once the papers have been signed he will get them executed tomorrow. He will call in the JULIE and it should start next week.

Ben Teston with Pinoy Construction said Sloan Street should not be shut down for 14 days. They will build an inlet and then poor a high strength concrete and it should be opened the next day.

Raymond Gunning made the motion to adjourn. Seconded by Roger Angelly. A roll call vote was taken with all present voting yes. Motion carried.
